During a week of stormy weather we found an art installation exploring the COVID pandemic at PorcFest, a festival celebrating freedom produced by the Free Your State Project .
Out of Lockstep, is a journey back through the lockdowns and how it affected our every day lives. This was a powerful exhibit that can drive a necessary conversation in society. In an effort to control a virus, we lost our basic human rights. From masks to vaccines mandates, the whole thing was like a bad science fiction movie. Why did so many comply? Families were ripped apart, businesses lost forever, lives ruined. How could a free society resort to mandated vaccines and the wearing of face masks?
Four years later no one wants to talk about the failure of it all. If we cannot learn from the COVID pandemic we are bound to repeat it. The propaganda is already brewing for bird flu as the manufactured media beats the drums of fear. Art is a tool that can break through the smokey haze of propaganda and allow us to see and feel what is hard to speak, and hard to censor.
